Holmes Chapel Zoo is a vibrant and evolving community zoo located in the heart of Cheshire, dedicated to inspiring positive connections between people and wildlife. Founded and directed by Ben Mews and Melissa Mews, the zoo combines innovative education, exceptional animal care, and meaningful conservation engagement to create unforgettable experiences for visitors of all ages.

At Holmes Chapel Zoo, guests can explore a diverse and growing collection of animals including mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, and invertebrates. From cheeky meerkats to charming skunks, free-roaming wallabies to exotic reptiles, we pride ourselves on delivering close-up encounters that spark learning and build empathy for the natural world.

Alongside our on-site zoo, we operate Zoo2U, an outreach service bringing engaging, curriculum-linked animal education into schools, care homes, youth groups, and events across the wider region. With hands-on experiences, expert presenters, and a strong safeguarding and welfare framework, Zoo2U reaches thousands of people every year — including those who may not otherwise have the chance to interact with animals.

Holmes Chapel Zoo is committed to continuous improvement and growth, with plans underway to enhance animal habitats, expand conservation programmes, and increase accessibility for local families and SEND visitors. We actively collaborate with local organisations to champion nature-based education and support community wellbeing through volunteering opportunities, partnerships, and inclusive events.
