The Google Bus got a great reception when it spent the day in Macclesfield recently

The Google Digital Garage Bus is part of an initiative from Google to provide free advice, coaching and training to anyone to help them improve their digital skills, and Macclesfield Chamber of Commerce partnered with Google to bring the bus to Macclesfield so that everyone locally could have the opportunity to benefit from this great initiative.

Throughout the day the bus generated lots of interest from people in the town, whether they had a specific interest in the digital world or just wanted to admire the RouteMaster bus which had started its life decades ago transporting passengers around the streets of London.

And upstairs the top deck had been converted into a digital training hub where there were courses running on subjects like how to build a digital marketing plan, how to write good copy for use on social media, and how to interpret data and make it help you grow your business – all the courses were pre-booked with a huge waitlist such was the interest.

The highly-skilled Google team were on hand to help with all manner of questions … from how to reset a mobile password, to how to make Facebook and Instagram work for your business –

Sue Bowden from Macclesfield Chamber said “This is the first time the Google Bus has come out to North Cheshire and we are delighted there has been so much positive reaction today – we’ve had a steady stream of both business people and local residents stopping by throughout the day to get advice from the Google team.  We keep being asked when it’s coming back, so watch out for a return trip !”
